Spanish "Blue Division" Commemorative Medal (Erinnerungsmedaille für die spanischen Freiwilligen im Kampf gegen den Bolschewismus) This is a commemorative medal awarded to Spanish volunteers who fought against Bolshevism on the Eastern Front as part of the German Wehrmacht's "Blue Division" during World War II. The medal was instituted on January 3, 1944. This particular example is the zinc version and is marked with the number “1”, indicating it was manufactured by the firm Deschler & Sohn in Munich.
