Original WWII German Erkennungsmarke from the 2nd Stamm-Kompanie / Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 62, based in Landshut, Bavaria (Wehrkreis VII). This unit trained and assigned infantry recruits—many of whom were sent to frontline formations like the 7. Infanterie-Division.
That division fought across France, including Metz and Nancy, and later in Russia, where it saw brutal combat around Smolensk, Vyazma, and Rzhev during Operation Barbarossa and the prolonged Eastern campaigns.
The tag’s reverse includes handwritten references to these theaters, providing a rare, personalized snapshot of a soldier's trajectory from Western Europe to the Eastern Front.
A truly collectible field-carried relic for militaria historians and WWII enthusiasts.
