LW Wristband Compass AK39 Kadlec
Category:
€ 245,00
Authentic WWII Luftwaffe AK-39 wrist compass, issued to German pilots and aircrew during the Second World War. Manufactured by Kadlec Instrumentenfabrik in Prague, this early-war model is a highly sought-after piece of German aviation equipment.
Stamped clearly on the back of the black Bakelite housing:
- Armbandkompaß
- Bauart: Kadlec
- Baumuster: AK 39
- Werk Nr: 36803
- Anforderz: FL 23235 (FL = Fliegermaterial – Aeronautical Equipment)
The compass features a 60 mm diameter and still retains its original petroleum (kerosene) filling, used for damping the compass card. The top housing is rotatable with a clear directional guide and red central circle, allowing Luftwaffe pilots to set and follow a precise heading even under pressure.
Unlike later versions with a white Bakelite body and transparent base, this early model has the classic black case and maker-marked compass card, reading: KADLEC - INSTRUMENTENFABRIK - PRAG.
This is a rare and complete Luftwaffe flight instrument, perfect for serious WWII aviation collectors, militaria enthusiasts, or museum display.
