Wehrmacht Heer M36 Cap Cocarde (Cockade)

This is an original Wehrmacht Heer (Army) M36 cap cockade, a key insignia worn on German military field caps during the early years of World War II.

• Design: The cockade features a red center, surrounded by a white ring, all set within a black outer ring. It is machine-embroidered onto a dark green (feldgrau) wool or rayon backing, shaped in a diamond form — the standard presentation for wear on the M36 field cap.


• Use: This cockade was worn beneath the national eagle on the Feldmütze (field cap) of Heer enlisted personnel and NCOs. The design reflects the national colors and was part of a two-piece insignia configuration.


• Historical Note: This pattern remained in use throughout the war, though later variants were sometimes simplified or made in different materials due to wartime production constraints.
