German Cross in Gold – Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid (Post-War S&L Variant)

This is an early post-war produced German Cross in Gold by the renowned maker Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid, following the original wartime design. Commonly known as the S&L collector and veteran variant, it closely mirrors the wartime version and is highly regarded among collectors.

The piece is in a nice used condition, with only a single minor blemish on the white sunburst background. The enamel cross is securely riveted to the Cupal (copper/aluminum) backplate, and the medal shows great patina.

These crosses were produced shortly after WWII for veterans' associations and collectors, using original wartime tooling.

An outstanding example and the closest you can get to a wartime original from one of the most respected manufacturers of the period.
