Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge (Flugzeugführerabzeichen) – BSW Maker Marked
This is an original Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge, a historically significant award first introduced in January 1935 under the Deutscher Luftsportverband (DLV) and officially adopted by the Luftwaffe on 26 March 1936 by order of Hermann Göring. It was awarded to pilots upon successful completion of theoretical studies, flight training, and the receipt of their military pilot’s license.
This particular example is an early war badge made of tombak (Buntmetall), a high-quality alloy used before the shift to more economical wartime materials. The badge features the distinct cloverleaf maker mark 'BSW', indicating production by Brüder Schneider A.G., Wien (Vienna).
It displays sharp detailing throughout, with a nicely aged, darkened patina across both the oak leaf wreath and the diving eagle with swastika. The badge is complete with its original pin and catch.
A fine and authentic early-war BSW Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge in used, worn condition—a desirable piece for any serious WWII aviation or Luftwaffe collection.
