Wehrmacht Panzer Assault Badge in Bronze (Panzerkampfabzeichen)
This is an original Panzer Assault Badge, awarded to tank crew members of the German Army (Heer) who participated in armored assaults during World War II. Introduced on December 20, 1939, the badge recognized the service of panzer troops involved in at least three combat engagements on separate days.
This example is the bronze grade, typically awarded to members of mechanized infantry or support units operating alongside armored divisions. The design features a detailed image of a Panzer IV tank set within an oak leaf wreath, topped with a Wehrmacht eagle and swastika emblem.
Crafted from a zinc alloy with bronze wash, this badge shows signs of age and wear consistent with use, yet retains good detail in both the tank and wreath. The reverse features a standard pin and catch system (not pictured), typical of wartime manufacturing.
