General Assault Badge (Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen)
This is an authentic example of the General Assault Badge, awarded to Wehrmacht personnel who participated in infantry support roles during combat but did not qualify for the Infantry Assault Badge. Introduced on June 1, 1940, the decoration was presented to combat engineers, artillery, anti-aircraft, anti-tank, and other non-infantry units involved in three or more assaults.
The design features a bold Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika, set above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, all enclosed in a detailed oak leaf wreath. This example is made from zinc, common for mid- to late-war production, and shows typical age-related patina and light wear, adding to its authenticity.
The reverse is equipped with a vertical pin and catch assembly, consistent with original wartime manufacture. Marked R.S. which indicates maker
