Hitlerjugend (HJ) District Triangle "Südost Oberdonau"

This is a period example of a Hitlerjugend (HJ) district triangle insignia for the region “Südost Oberdonau” (Southeast Upper Danube), which was a territorial designation within the HJ structure during the Third Reich. These woven cloth triangles were worn on the upper left sleeve of the uniform tunic to designate the wearer's district of service.

The HJ, or Hitler Youth, was the paramilitary youth organization of the Nazi Party, structured similarly to military units and divided by regions. "Südost Oberdonau" referred to a specific area within Austria after the 1938 Anschluss (annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany), when Austria was reorganized into Reichsgaue (imperial districts).

This triangle features:

• Golden-yellow gothic script embroidered on a black wool/felt base.
• A standard triangular cut with black edge piping.
• The reverse side bears the RZM paper label, indicating regulation manufacture by a certified NSDAP supplier (Reichszeugmeisterei der NSDAP).
• This example is marked “A4/134” and has a serial number, providing traceability and authenticity for collectors and historians.
