NSDAP Long Service Award – 10 Years (Medaille für 10-jährige treue Dienste in der NSDAP)
The NSDAP Long Service Award for 10 Years was instituted on 2 April 1939 by Adolf Hitler to recognize extended and loyal service by members of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). This particular example represents the bronze class, awarded for a full decade of continuous service.
Design Details:
- The medal features a Maltese-style cross with radiating rays between the arms, symbolizing dedication and loyalty.
- At the center of the obverse is a raised national eagle clutching a swastika within a wreath.
- The reverse carries the inscription "Treue für Führer und Volk" (“Loyalty to the Leader and People”), a slogan emphasizing the ideological and political commitment expected of party members.
- The ribbon is deep brown with two white stripes near the edges, reflecting the NSDAP party colors. The example shown is complete with ribbon and suspension ring, with moderate signs of age and wear, indicating originality and authentic usage.
Material:
- Made of bronze or bronze-washed metal alloy, giving the award its characteristic brownish hue.
Award Criteria:
- Only full-time NSDAP members were eligible.
- Time served in affiliated organizations (SA, SS, NSKK, NSBO, etc.) could also count toward the award period.
- The 10-year class was the lowest of three tiers (10, 15, and 25 years), with each class increasing in size and material value.
